I am trying to tune my friends coyote mustang that just has a cold air intake and longtube headers on it through HP Tuners with the MPVI3. I am trying to calibrate the MAF sensor but I am having a strange issue. I have the table in VCM Scanner setup with the variable as LTFT + STFT (Bank Seperated) (Math) as as a percentage and the row axis as Mass Airflow Period with the same values as the chart in VCM Editor. While taking a log of the car I am only getting the percentage reading of the first cell which happens to be 83.3 even when I am giving the car throttle. I cannot seem to figure out what I have setup incorrectly for it to readout like this. All help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Does the variable Mass Airflow Period update when you are connected and recording in VCM Scanner?

Yes, the variable of average percentage updates when connected and recording in VCM Scanner even when I give the car some throttle it only updates the percentage in the first cell which is 83.3.

Devin,

The common cause of this that I've run into is there are likely multiple monitors which are almost identical, and the one assigned to the histogram likely isn't the one that is updating. I'd see if there's another monitor with the same or almost the same name to assign as the axis for the histogram.

I don't believe there is another monitor active that is similar, I am new to HP Tuners as this is my first car I am trying to use it with so I may be mistaken, but there is nothing that catches my eye when I look through the program. This is the only thing that I have added to the stock layout in VCM Scanner since I first opened it.

Thanks for the help!

The monitor NOT being active is the issue I'm referring to. If you aren't logging the monitor that corresponds to the table axis monitor chosen, then all data goes in the first cell.

Ok, that makes more sense now. I can only seem to find MAF Frequency when I am searching the "Add Channels" instead of finding MAF Period, will it work if I have it read the frequency or do I need to be connected to the car to find it?

I would connect to the vehicle (car button) while physically connected and vehicle has ignition on, then attempt to add the channel you're after.

If it's not present, then yes logging one that's present such as Mass Airflow frequency, and then assigning that same monitor to be the axis in your histogram, will give you the desired affect of filling out the table. Just make sure you adjust the axis break points accordingly when you change the monitor. For example the frequency values may be drastically higher than the period values.

Since it seems you may have logged Mass Airflow (SAE) [Mass Flow Rate], you can make that your histogram axis and see those values. Again, just make sure the axis break points get adjusted so they allow you to view the full range of logged values for that channel.

If you already tried changing the axis channel to this and still only saw data in one cell, the axis break points could be the reason.

You can view the channel you're considering using as an axis in the strip chart to get a feel for the range of values, then set up the break points accordingly.

Hopefully the channel or axis break point idea gets this going for you, but please keep me posted.

Thanks for the help Mike, when I connected to the vehicle it was then able to find the right channel and everything was smooth sailing from then on.

I appreciate the help!
