Hi!

I'm currently building a car that I will be competing in Time Attack with next year. Right now the engine is set up to run five rather big 1700cc injectors and I had a thought about staged injection.

Will staged injection with ten smaller injectors instead give any advantages on an engine exclusively run on track? I think I read somewhere that it will improve throttle response, but to what degree?

Is it worth the fabrication needed?

Perfect idle isn't really an issue nor is the change in fuel consumption in this case.

I'd personally be inclined to stick with 5 1700's assuming they are capable of supporting your fuel requirements. I've never really noticed a worthwhile improvement in throttle response from staged injection and only do it when I can't achieve good idle/cruise with a single large injector, or conversely need more fuel than a single injector can supply. There's potential for improvement in N/A engines with a set of injectors mounted back outside the inlet trumpets but if you're talking about 1700's I'll assume you're running a turbo engine.

Thank you Andre! Then I will stick with 5 injectors. Right now the injectors are Bosch CNG injectors and I will get it up and running with these ones. But when it's time for mapping the engine I will change to a set up that is designed to run E85.

Great tuning course by the way, I learned a lot and also confirmed what I already knew. I am sure that the money spent on the course will be made back by less time needed in the dyno!
