I am fitting flat top pistons to an L18 and also a '74 degree' Clive cam grind. The deck has been skimmed several thou and the head has likely been surfaced during its long life (yet to measure head thickness)

Can you recommend a minimum piston to valve clearance figure that allows me comfort to adjust the cam timing on the dyno?

Maximum engine RPM will be about 7000 and I will be using new H/D valve springs.

TIA

Hello Gary i would normally use a minimum of .080 tho on these engines for both inlet and exhaust, this should allow you to swing the cam approx 15 deg but will need to be check against your cam profile

Thanks Ross - appreciated!
