So just as title states. How are people street tuning ignition timing or even getting remote tunes without a knock sensor? I ask because my friend recently swapped a 6g75 mivec in a 5g mirage for his all motor project. He bought FT450 but then realized it doesn't come with a knock sensor logging setup. For now it's going to be on 93 oct on street duty and probably switch to e85/90 or methanol at track. I know e85/90 or meth is less timing advanced sensitive compared to pump 93. I was thinking only solution is to buy something like a Tuner Nerd knock monitor or Plex setup.
Christian,
HPA's road tuning course includes a module on this specifically. Yes you'll need a way to monitor for knock.
