Hello, Need help with cop conversion on a 4EFTE which is on buggy running a Motec M4 Ecu. Currently its running the distributor, igniter and coil leads How is the cop conversion done?

Regards,

Amk.

To run a COP setup you need to do the following

Remove the distributor cap and blank off. You need to keep the distributor in there to keep the trigger system (unless a crank trigger has been fitted) . What coils are you using? Are the internally ignited or do you have an external igniter?

If internal then you need to wire the ignition outputs from the ecu to the coils (either as direct fire or waste spark depending on output capabilities). If not internal igniter then you wire the ecu to an external 4 channel or 2 x 2 channel igniters then the igniter to the coils.

Then you need to change the setup in the ecu to suit either direct fire or wastespark depending how you wired it.

Thanks for the feedback, Crank trigger has not been fitted. The coils i would like to use are internally ignited. Is there any conversion i need to do to the distributor to use it as trigger for the cop?

All you need to do with the distributor is take the HT Leads off it, alternatively you can make a nice alloy cap or something to cap off where the cap should be. You need to keep the distributor there for your 2 triggers to the ecu.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
