Good afternoon. Is the 120 applicable to any engine with any number of cylinders? Can you please show me the calculation of where the value of 120 came from? Thank you.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what '120' you're talking about. Can you be more specific?

Thanks,

Nick

I believe he is referring to timestamp 3:50 in the Injection Timing Lesson. I'm also curious to know the story behind the "120" used in the calculation. That is 120 milliseconds right? how is 120 milliseconds relevant for calculating angular frequency? thanks Nick.

I use this to calculate injection angle in relation to injector on time duration. (360*enginespeed)/(60*1000)*main injection micoseconds/1000

Guys,

The 120 figure is shorthand for combining two calcs. The first is 1/60 'minutes per second' and the second is 1/2 'cycles per engine revolution'.

Here's a random youtube video that may be useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqNoqOp91zw
