In truth, you can do whatever you like with your own project when it comes to how many different colours you do or perhaps do not use, noting accurate documentation is more important than a range of colours. If you don't document what your colours or ident tags are in the case of white wiring, then it doesn't matter either way does it when it comes to having no idea what wire is for what!
