The electrification of motorsports is still in its early days, but there is already plenty to talk about.

Battery cooling, cell layout, voltage limitations and the advantages of an electric package over the traditional internal combustion engine approach are just a few of the topics Tim discusses with Hamish Janett of the University of Canterbury Formula SAE team.

Seen cutting some laps alongside the UC Motorsports single seater is Paddon Rallysport's electric Hyundai Kona rally car due to enter competition in 2022.

What is Formula SAE? Also known as FSAE or Formula Student, it is a University level student design competition which is run and governed by SAE International (aka Society of Automotive Engineers International). The concept is to develop a small Formula (single-seat open-wheel car) race car which is then evaluated by a number of different static and dynamic considerations and events.
