Speedsockets Are Clever, People Who Strip Wire With Side Cutters Are Not...Here's Why

Put your side cutters away when stripping wire boys! Get yourself the correct tool, Andre explains why.

In this 'Today At HPA' [#UPDATE 307] we take a look at a few of our favourite things, old and new, including Speedsockets, wire strippers (no cocaine), DMC crimp tools, CAN to Lambda controllers and dual pressure sensors which tell you both pressure and temperature of your oil and fuel. Definitely nothing new, but something those 'new to the game' are always stoked to find out about in our experience.

Also discussed are TE Connectivity's 'Composite Series' wiring connectors which are compact, setup for booting out of the box, and cheaper than Autosport connectors. Did we mention they're compact? Check out that 3 position Deutsch DTM connector compared to the Composite 6 position one! The downside, you still need the expensive tooling, but if you're watching this in time you can enter into the DMC comp to win some. Hint hint.

Also discussed are Flex Fuel, they are awesome as well which you might already know, but do you know how they actually work?

TOPIC NOTES
We know you guys always want to learn more about wiring connectors, so here is a quick run down on what Andre discussed.
TE Connectivity's DEUTSCH AS Composite Connector
6 position connector shown
22 gauge wire

Advantages over DEUTSCH DTM
- Very Compact
- Designed to work with boots and handle the heat
- Cheaper than Autosport connectors

Disadvantages
- They need the more pricey tooling

Our Verdict: 100% worth it if your harness requires this level of materials but if DTM connectors will get it done for you they are still a solid choice, just be careful when booting them.
