[TECH TOUR] 5L V10 powered Toyota 86 | Zoom Garage’s 520 HP BMW S85

This 520 HP FT86 powered by a BMW S85 5L V10 is a step away from what we normally see these cars repowered with and at the 2017 World Time Attack Challenge Brad from Zoom Garage gave us some insight into the Brett Dickie Racing driven beast.

As well as the BMW engine, the car runs a BMW E92 M3 6 speed manual gearbox with traction and engine management being controlled by the MoTeC M150 ECU and assisted by a Tomei .5 way differential. Surprisingly this package has a weight split of 52/48 with a minimal overall weight increase. The S85 now has a dry sump setup as well as fuel pump and injector upgrades that are required to handle the demands of the E85 fuel.

With this years WTAC also being the shakedown run after a frantic 72 day build, we’re really excited to see how the car develops with a chance to fine tune before next years event.
