Terminal Failure | 650HP SR20VE Swap | SR86 EP 7 [#BUILD]

‘We could just be towing a broken race car 2.5 hours to the bottom of the South Island, but we’re this far in…” - Andre

In this [BUILD] update we see how Andre and the team who have casually dropped an SR20VET into a GT86 a few weeks before race season are getting on, spoiler alert, not great.

Teratonga 9566

In the previous episodes, we have covered some issues with the cooling system that were discovered about 6 hours before it was time to leave for Teretonga Park in Invercargill, New Zealand (luckily the closest round to our base in Queenstown) and the first round of the SIERDC. Some wishful thinking and finger-crossing saw us get through the first round of testing on a greasy track looking good, but once the car was leaned on things turned to s#!t, and luckily the team documented it all as the day progressed.

Teratonga 9659 v2

Make sure you check out Andre's post race track comments at the 30-minute mark for some more insight into the issues after getting home and having a chance to get a closer look.

Very disappointing for you all. Given that it was a late night prior to loading; did you consider a compression test and a cooling system leak down test once you were suspicious of a problem ?
I hope you get the 86 back together and ought on the track soon.
