..TECHNIQUE, and TIME practising it! In this lesson/module we're going to take a look at a few of the key points you need to consider in order to make sure you have the best chance of success on your TIG torch.
As we and others have mentioned previously in various fabrication content, a good weld starts with a good 'fit up'. This is the work you do before you pull out your welder and put your welding helmet and other PPE gear on. We do not cover fit up in this lesson, but you should know it is important if you weren't already aware.
In this lesson what we DO discuss for you are a few pointers on how to start to produce welding of a standard that is safe and also you are proud of. This starts with ensuring your comfort is considered (we understand in a motorsport environment this isn't always possible but for learning purposes pay attention to it please!) along with the angle of both your TIG torch, the distance of it from your material and your filler rod.
Remember no one starts off perfect, and there are no shortcuts when it comes to making sure do more than just watch and learn knowledge like this, get some practice materials or projects set up and get stuck into it once you're ready!
