The Truth About Head Flow, Brake Upgrades and More | Today At HPA [UPDATE 243]

In this ‘pre-webinar’ update we run through the difference between the windowed 1UZ-FE and the 3UZ-FE that will replace it in the HPA-86 build along with why having the highest flowing ports possible (measured in CFM) is not the only number to consider nor always beneficial for engine power throughout the rev range.

Also covered is the Endless brake setup going onto the rear of the car as the uprated stock setup was getting too hot for both the pads, CVs and CV boots. After gathering some data we robbed the brakes off the RC-86, the 'other' race car to test the heat and longevity theory for the CV setup and found in the real world it did make a large difference where while we might not we able to run an entire race at Ruapuna on stock axles when forced, they will last much longer than the 15 minutes.

Also discussed are the importance of setting your base ignition timing before you undertake any tuning, and why corner weighting your race car correctly will help you on track.
