Hey I'm in the process of an 07k swap into a 944 and when I was pulling the intake manifold off I noticed some rust on the valves. My uncle says a little is fine for an engine that's been sitting as long as there no pitting but I think this maybe too much. Images are attached I hope
I'd be surprised if some of those valves even open, let alone seal the combustion chamber. If there is that much visible corrosion on the valves, especially around the valve seats, then there is going to be just as much on other areas of the engine. The engine imo needs a full pull down and refresh before it is to be used. Otherwise just use it as a dummy engine for fitment testing.
That's severe corrosion and I'd be surprised if the engine even turns over as at least one bore is going to be rusted up.
As Stephen said, it's going to NEED a full strip down and assessment of the mechanical condition - I would expect a rebore and full head rebuild as a minimum!
