Discussion and questions related to the course EFI Tuning Fundamentals
Question... On this topic... So it means to say that when it comes to tuning ecu... For us to get a Good AFR we would focus more on combustion chamber to be at a certain cooler point even though we could loose a slight power?...
The AFR at which the engine makes peak power will result in the highest combustion temperatures. Running the engine slightly richer than this will help to bring the combustion temperatures down, and while it will reduce the power output a little, it really wont be by much. The added safety factor this gives us is worth it.
So, yes, we usually set the AFR slightly richer than where peak power is found to give us a bit of a cushion.
