Hello, I just want to ask if is possible to tune my BMW E46 with narrow band oxygen sensor, because you said that I will need wide band oxygen sensor. So is it really necessery to add to my car wide band?

With narrow band O2 sensor the only one thing you know is if a/f mixture richer or leaner than stoichiometric - that is just simply not enough information for proper fuel table tuning. Without wide band O2 sensor how are you going to know what exactly your air/fuel mixture ratio is?

Narrow band sensors are useful for insuring cars meet emission standards. They help the ECU achieve Lambda 1.0. They only provide if you are richer than Lambda 1.0 or leaner that Lambda 1.0, but do not really indicate how rich or lean like a Wideband sensor does.

So, yes for effective tuning, you need a Wideband Controller and Oxygen sensor.

So how do I make tune without wide band. I need to put into exhaust some external wide band o2 sendor?

Yep. You can buy and install it and dial in your fuel map by dataloging (some of them work even with CAN protocol)...

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
