Noob question here so feel free to tell me if i'm an idiot.
I am building a harness and just received the ECU connectors and pins so I can start wiring it up. I've already done one and connected all the wires the same way the old one was. My question is, does it really matter what wire connects to which slot? I'm looking at the pins inside the ECU and they just look like fuses so are they all powered?
Theoretically couldn't I just insert the wires in whatever slot I want or will this cause issues? I've attached pictures of one of the new connectors, the old connector with the wires cut and the inside of the ECU
Yes, it matters.
Yes, absolutely it matters. Every wire has a different function and needs to connect to the appropriate pin at the ECU header plug or it won't function correctly (or most likely at all). I'd suggest sourcing a factory wiring diagram and familiarising yourself with how everything works.
