G'day all,

Race Car Build, thinking headlights on alternate flash mode via CAN Keypad command for overtake.

I'd like someone to verify my thoughts about how I'd like to go about it, trying to be saavy to save one of my more important outputs that being a Half Bridge Output.

The unused Injection outputs, when not used to fire injectors, are able to be re-purposed in the NSP software as Generic Digital Pulsed Outputs (DPO) switching 2A to ground.

I'll be wiring 2 headlights (Each a H1 LED globe drawing 1.6A at 13.6V) by using my unused Injection outputs (Inj 7 and Inj 8) from my Haltech Nexus R3.

The benefit being I save a Half Bridge Output for if I switch to DBW throttle later (this would require two HBO's to run, and I only have 2 left now before headlights).

In my mind, this works, and they'll be able to be fired in alternating sequence via a CAN command from the keypad.

Can someone confirm my thinking here?

Many Thanks,

Daryl

The injector outputs are low-side drive and limited to 2A peak when used as a DPO. So, you’d need to use them to trigger a relay first, that would then trigger the lights. The software will let you select high-side drive, but I’ve never had any luck using DPOs as a high-side drive output on my Nexus R5. When I’ve needed/wanted high side drive (I.e starter motor), I’ll generally just use one of my 8A HCOs or run the DPOs as a low-side drive to trigger a relay.
