Excuse me if this has been covered before - have searched but just get bogged down in naysayers and extreme examples that get confused in boost and multiple pumps/surge tanks etc - I just want the basic understanding.

I have a relatively stock Toyota 5SFE in a Celica being built as a club rally car. All fuel lines are out anyway to be routed through cabin and changed to AN braided.

I want to take advantage of the options in the LINK G4X ECU and Razor PDM I have and try a closed loop returnless fuel system. Not because I need to, not because i want to tidy my engine bay, but because I want to learn about it for future builds, and best to do it on a stocky than some high HP mega $ build. So please dont tell me its pointless and not to bother.

Looking to verify that I am on the right track.

- Single line from the in tank fuel pump - (some sites show a small return before the filter but I presume that is for more of an open loop system, otherwise how would you get pressure without full pump runtime)

- Quality Fuel Pressure Sensor near the rail providing input to the ECU for Fuel Pump control. (No other regulator or pulse dampers required) Plug on the return end of the OEM fuel rail.

- PWM control of the Fuel Pump. PWM parameter Control by ECU > CAN PWM signal to Razor PDM > CAN Function to PWM capable Output. (Will the 1991 OEM Toyota Fuel Pump be suitable with PWM?)

All just seems so simple given the amount of negativity that seems to come up about it on forums, is it?

This is something I plan to do as well, for similar reasons.

I will be using a Megasquirt ECU for this though.

I will need to look into what the pump requirements are, because it would seem that's the hinge to the whole setup, a pump capable of being driven by a PWM signal and work reliably. And on that I've read all sorts of "will work" and "won't work" with the same pumps. I'm hoping to not need to go to the expensive PWM pumps, and use something like a Walbro 255, or the AEM 450 that I have...
