Hi all,
Wondered if anyone would be able to help with this.
I have a 2.0 Ford BDG on Jenvey Heritage Throttle Bodies and a Zetec Wasted Spark Coil. Engine has a 36 - 1 trigger wheel and a VR crank sensor, all running on a DTAFast T2 ECU.
The issue we're having is the car refuses to start nicely. The crank sensor repeatedly loses and regains sync when cranking.
All wiring crank sensor wiring has been completely re-routed away from anything noisy. We've swapped sensors, adjusted gap, verified grounds, ran countless Oscilloscopes and worked directly with DTA and haven't managed to find or fix the issue.
The only thing we tried that stopped this from happening was to unplug the coil entirely.
This car has already been to the rolling road for mapping, the starting issue was not able to be fixed or improved at all.
Thanks in advance
Data logs and or screen shots of the osillasccope? At low and rapidly changing engine speeds it is kind of difficult to detect the missing tooth. A lot of the current ECUs on the market are adding strategies to try and help with this. Something as simple as too much voltage drop at the starter and or a battery that is too small. 100-150 cranking RPM might be the difference of your engine starting on the first half cycle or not starting at all.
