Hi Andre

I'm having a really difficult time getting my 86 to idle with new larger 700cc deatschwerks injectors, I've downloaded their tables and changed them on my tune file, these are:

- Injector latency

- Injector flow scaling

- Throttle tip in enrichment A

- Throttle tip in enrichment B

- Cranking Fuel Injector PW Compensation (%) / IAT

Are there any other tables that I am missing, my calibration ID is A01J, there seems to be a few more cranking fuel tables that reference IPW

Thanks

J

When you're changing injectors on the 86 the injector flow scaling value and the latency values aren't going to be exactly what the injector manufacturer states. I know that's not specifically helpful but you need to adjust both the flow scaling and latency values based off the short term and long term fuel trims. With the 86 this also means that you need to run 100% PI while you're scaling the injectors otherwise your results will be skewed by the DI component.

You can use the flow rate from the manufacturer to get you close but you'll typically find that the final value is as much as 20% different. The process of scaling injectors is explained in our practical reflash tuning course.

As for any of the tables that work based on IPW you need to consider whether the ECU is using the PI or DI injectors at this point - ie what injectors are these tables applying to. If you have an IPW based compensation table then you can work out a percentage adjustment to make to them based off the size of the old injector and the size of the new injector.

Thanks for the advice... I found out that the manufacturer flow rates are firstly in lbs/hr and calculated at 4 bar fuel pressure as opposed to the 3 bar flow rate charts provided. It will definitely throw off the idle and fueling.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
