I have installed a varex system on my car . I have 2 relays , set up as following :

Relay 1 :

Pin 30 motor +

pin 87a +12V

pin 87 GRN

Pin 85 +12

Pin 86 ADU/ECU

Relay 2 :

Pin 30 motor +

pin 87a GRN

pin 87 +12V

Pin 85 +12V

Pin 86 ADU/ECU

It works for a few times and then it burns the motor due to being constant power fed . even when I remove the +12V for both relays I have power coming to the relays , which I believe is due to reverse polarity from the trigger wire .

Has anyone done something similar ? If not does anyone with more experience with these kinda stuff have any recommendations ?

TIA

From the way you have the relays set up ,it looks like you are using 1 output from the ecu.

This will require 2 outputs.

Switch ON 1 output at a time

Output 1 =open

Output 2 =closed

Set the outputs up on timers in the ecu.

Set the ON time for the amount of time it takes to move the valve into position ,(maybe 1 second more) then switch the output off. (I assume there is no limit switches on the motor)

Output 1 to relay 1 ,pin 85

Output 2 to relay 2 ,pin 85

Relay 1 pin 30 motor+

Relay 2 pin 30, motor -

Wire both relays

Pin 86 = 12v

Pin 87A = gnd

Pin 87 =12v

Thanks for the reply . I am pretty sure I had tried what you suggested but I didn't have a complete circuit with the suggested set up. From what I found it is when I have the car turned off the the relays have constant power and constantly feeds the motor causing it to burn .

But I can give it another try with your recommendations .

No problem.

Also make sure the 12v supply's to the relays are being switched through by the main relay .(the same relay that is supplying power to the ecu , injectors ,coils etc)

This will eliminate any back feeding though the aux output which can in some instances keep the ecu powered up when main relay is off

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
