Whatsup guys, for some this might be a very basic question or topic to understand but

i am still getting my head wraped arround how to tune properly and

I recon there is alot of information in the courses to retain. i am just unsure about tuning factory ECU'S and more specifically how to approach tuning one.

Example; i have an E46 330ci. the engine being an m54b30, a factory ECU and i have some aftermarket headers so id like to get a little more power out of it to practice. Say i use PC Link, i know there are multiple integrated cars in the menu but how do i create a map if my particular car isnt in there?

-is this possible?

-if so what process is necessary ?

Thanks!

There isn't a single tuning solution that you can apply to every car unfortunately. Take for example PC Link - This is proprietary software that is only used to tune the Link range of aftermarket ECUs. Likewise Infinity Tuner is only used to tune the AEM Infinity and so on. When you're talking about reflashing a factory ECU you need a software and hardware package that's designed to work with your engine and ECU. I don't do a lot with BMW here in NZ so I 'm not sure what the options are for you. If you had a Subaru for example ECUflash is very popular, or Cobb Access Port, and with the GM LS V8 EFI Live and HP Tuners are the popular options.

So your first step is finding a suitable tuning solution that is compatible with the BMW 330i. Alternatively you may be able to find a plug & play ECU option from an aftermarket supplier.
