Hi, I have an r33 gtr running OEM coil packs, which are only 3 years old @700bhp with no misfires and was wondering when fitting stronger coils such as R35 gtr ones and after resetting to the correct dwell times would the timing map need retouching?
Prefer not to organise a dyno just for this but will if absolutely necessary.
Appreciate any help.
Is there a reason for changing the coils?
For the most part, as long as the current coils are lighting the mixture, then you will not gain from changing the coils to higher power ones. The flame propagation speed through the mixture will not change based on the coils used.
If you have the correct dwell times, then changing the coils will not require a retune.
Thanks for your reply, I got them for a good price so if the others fail (probably not) then I will use them.
Wich dwell times do you guys use for R35 coils? Couldn't find any table...
My timing dwell table with R35 coils for the last 14 months.
Michael, rekon you could post that table up as an attachment? I can't get that link to work :-).
I attached it also:
Hope that helps
thanks for your post, but this is just the raw data, i have that too, but in a Link G4+ you have to program dwell time depending on rpm, i calculatet a table, but that is a mix of base map values and raw data accepted as idle rpm values.
Your pic shows something different...
