Hey guys,

First post - absolutely LOVING everything about the HP academy.

I have spent a considerable amount of time researching the turbo for my next setup. My previous build, I ran into a lot of issues related to turbo sizing. It really showed me the importance of the correct sizing, and that most turbo suppliers don't really know the depths of sizing it up or don't have the time to invest in every single purchase and just sell you what you want - more or less.

So I've been through all the related webinars, I've spent hours and hours on calculators and have really just about wrapped my head around it. But I'm looking for some opinions from people more experienced and comfortable with the topic. I have found quite clashing results between Borg and Garret's calculators, but after spending so much time on the Borgy MatchBot, I have (to my understanding) concluded that a PTE Pro Mod 98 is the best best size for me. What I'm stuck on, and don't want to get wrong is the A/R - unsure if I should go with 1.24 or 1.40. The MatchBot's closest sizes doesn't really answer the question for me, and Precision don't even show compressor maps (what's up with that?).

The build in question:

LS 427, Single Turbo, 75 (F) ambient temp - 0ft Sea Level on E85

Goal 1500-1700hp at the wheels. Obviously it's a pretty high end build to make this sort of power reliably, so have all the supporting goods needed to make this. Just want to make sure I get this right. The car will be built primarily for Roll Racing and secondly for drag racing. It's my first boosted 8cyl engine, so boost response is really foreign ground for me. I can't reconcile in my head what is better with this application, I feel like a "laggy" setup is fine with so much torque from the motor (as opposed to my experience with the 1JZ for example), and then on the flip side, I feel like a twin turbo setup would just be too torquey to even put the power down smoothly - I dunno.

Mind is set on the big single for budget's sake, just want to make sure I get it right this time, and get information from as many reliable sources as I can this time around.

Thanks for any help!!
