Hi, I've posted this on HP Forum and suport with and I got no answer.
I'm in Brazil and trying to read the ECU on several vehicles using the VCM Editor. In each case the tool successfully reads the VIN and Operating System, but the Hardware dropdown stays empty, so I can't select anything and the Read won't proceed.
This happens even on vehicles that appear on your official supported-vehicle list. I suspect these vehicles ship with a different ECU/OS than the North American versions and therefore aren't in your definitions database, but I'm not certain.
Could you confirm what the empty Hardware field means in these cases? Specifically:
Does an empty Hardware dropdown mean the ECU/OS isn't supported, or could it indicate a connection/definition issue instead? Are these specific Operating Systems supported by MPVI4, and if not, is support planned? Thanks for any clarification.
Just something to try might be updating and resyncing you system - maybe you did that already?
Hi Cory, yes, I've tried that.
Hmm ya that is kinda wierd. Its frustrating when HP doesn't give you support when you have issues. I havn't ran into that yet with an updated system yet.
Just did some looking around, apparently other guys were having that issue as well on some Ford vehicles. Does your system identify the vehicle vin?
Assuming you have tuned something with this exact tuning system before and that worked properly?
Yes, it does. I´ve uploaded a screenshot in the first post.
Does the hardware combobox be populated during the Gather Info? Or I need to select one and then click Read?
I most times never pick the hardware at all, just gather info and then it'll read for me. You say it won't read at all though?
Kinda weird couse it does id the os.
Yes, the hardware is never pick by Gather Info.
I´ve opened another ticket at HP Tuners support.
Ok well good luck with that and sorry I can't help ya!!!
HP Tuners just responded my questions.
Here they are:
1) Does an empty Hardware dropdown mean the ECU/OS isn't supported, or could it indicate a connection/definition issue instead?
- No, typically a definition/checksum error comes up, some ECMs require an internet connection though.
- Verify you are on the latest beta to receive the most support for vehicle platforms.
2) Are these specific Operating Systems supported by MPVI4, and if not, is support planned?
- Generally across all platforms MPVI4 can support the vehicles on the list as long as the ECM is supported, we just need to add the OS.
Also, they pointed to use beta version of VCM Studio.
Oh yes I don't know why I did'nt think of the Beta version!!! Thats what I am running. That has all the latest releases in it, its just not gone through all the final testing yet so its a "use at own risk" kinda thing.
