Skyline GTR engine rebuild - tuning

Hi!

A just quick question here. My friend bought an R32 GTR which turned out to have a bad engine in it. The engine got re-built and i did all the installation for him and now the engine is back in the car.

The re-build of the engine was only new pistons, rods, bearings and some machine work. I think we went first oversize piston bore only.

Everything else is the same. injectors, new turbo but same size, nothing major.

Does this engine need a tune now? Or can we just run it with the stock ecu.

There should not be any problems just driving it with the stock ecu. But its not my car..

you should be fine if the vehicle is stock with factory ecu and retains the air flow meters. i hope you found the reason for engine failure or it may happen again. fueling/oiling issues are not uncommon
