Hi TPS sensor reads 0 then 5v only no in between .

checked the wiring and replaced with new sensors . If we put an old style TPS on it reads lovely but not on the new TP11.

Am missing something ? car has ITBs fitted now and used to have dbw setup as standard .

Ren Clio 197

Some TPS sensors was just a switch (for idle or WOT). Perhaps the OEM was a switch, and when the ITBs were added someone changed to a potentiometer type to use that connector in the wiring. Can you get a part number from that and get the same one?

It should be one of these - https://www.burtonpower.com/throttle-position-sensor-kit-jenvey-tp11.html?srsltid=AfmBOorIiFca1WXDWKVvv0IS0Tfuzx6lQbeI47YnyLmyoA3ABNgZ3bg- you can get download some more info' lower down the page.

I would suspect it's a wiring incompatability, double check the pins' values against the harness, but you can do a basic check with a simple ohm-meter to see if it's operating correctly.

Signal wire is pin 1, pin 2 is 5V (supply), pin 3 is 0v (ground), and an ohm-meter should go from low to high (or the other way round, can't recall) if connected across 1&2 and the sensor is rotated in one direction and back as the direction is reversed, and across 1&3 the meter reading should be the reverse for the same shaft rotation directions.

Oh, I'd suggest doing a similar check against the TPS that works, as that might help identify if there's a simple pin change. I'd also suggest checking the 5V, signal and 0V continuity - I don't think that's an issue, as the old one works, but...

There is also a small chance the senser was mis-boxed, so carefully check it against the picture on the Jenvey site, and the drawings.

Have you tried the new sender off the TB, rotating it by hand, in case it was badly aligned on the body - I assume the latter, aligning it, is what brought the problem to light and is what you're trying to do.

Hi thanks for replying .

they have put on another sensor and all ok.

they just cant get it to rev past 5500 as a spark cut is coming on and they cant find out from where.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
