Old Dog, Trying to Learn New Tricks!

I built and tuned all 9 of my cars. But none had a turbo or programmable ECU. So in January of 2019, I purchased a new 2018 Ford Ecoboost Mustang from my local Ford dealership and the journey began!

I have just upgraded my oem turbocharger, to an aftermarket turbocharger by Precision.

What changes will I have to make to my E85 tune?

I loaded a new NX2/E85 tune from a professional, using my Cobb Accessport.

My car ran horrible. I had heat and fueling issues.

I switched to an E85 tune from last season and knocked off a 1/4 second, from my ET. Plus the heat and fueling issues were eliminated.

Does anyone have a theory, as to what may of caused the problems I encountered?

If you're running Cobb Accessport you have a brilliant datalogger to hand, I'm guessing it's the 2.3 Ecoboost you've got.

Things you should look at are initially fuel trims and the 'knock octane multiplier' or 'Oct Adj Ratio Lrn' I think Cobb calls it. The Ford ECU can be very aggressive in removing power through timing, throttle control and boost when the ECU isn't happy. If you are not logging and getting your tunes adjusted by your tuner then you are just hitting and hoping that you don't blow the thing up, they don't get called Ecoboom engines for nothing.

If you need a very good Pro-Tuner I'd highly recommend Motorsport Developments here in the UK:
