Hello from Tennessee, USA.
Hey all, I grew up around folks building engines, and always had a desire to do it myself, but life got in the way. My wife recently inherited a built 79 Trans Am that was her dad’s. It’s got a Pontiac 400 (6.6) big block bored and stroked to a 462, big cam, flat tops, Edelbrock RPM manifold, roller rockers, close chamber heads, headers etc., in front of a Doug Nash 5 speed. When the guy turning it over to her took her out for a ride to show her “what it would do” he inadvertently showed her what valve float was, causing me to have to tear it down, pull a head, replace two valves and pushrods, and dress the associated pistons. That reignited the fire, and now I’m looking at pulling the 3 valve 4.6 in my ‘07 Mustang and turning it into a cammed, high compression 5.0 stroker. I figured the engine building courses here would prep me for that. Beyond that, I have a low mileage 440, and a low mileage 351W that are both begging to be future projects.
Thanks,
