Tell us a little about you. What cars you are interested, where you are from and why you are interested in learning to tune.
Evening all.
I'm Ben, I decided to work through the Tuner starter package after watching way too many contradicting You-Tube video's, which either suggest this is childs-play, or black magic. I'm pretty sure it's neither. My car/project is a 2005 Porsche 911 (base 3.6) with some breathing mods (Equal headers, 200 Cell Cats, and Dansk Silencers - IPD plenum and GT3 TB) which I am fitting a Vortech Centrifugal Supercharger to. (VF Engineering).
VF are supplying an initial tune based on a Hex dump from my Bosch ME7.8 ECU prior to the install which they suggest should come out at around 480 BHP / 370LbFt @ 6 PSI with a conservative pulley. I had been looking at possibilities for boost control on the charge pipe, as well as reducing compression from 11.4:1 and beefier Con-Rods to run higher boost maybe 9-10 and playing with a selection of maps with different characteristics. Flat Torque Vs Linear and maybe Syvecs or Motec SA ECU. Had been hoping to find something open source, but so far I can only find bits for the Metzger / Turbo versions of the 997/996. Also thinking maybe WinOLS might be an option....
Any advice welcomed - including telling me it's a daft idea!
Thx :)
Ditch the OEM ECU and get any standalone supporting the OEM CANbus.
A multitude of opties is available.
But without specific questions or doubts.... Difficult.
