Hello all, Been a member for a few months now but not ventured into the Forums until now.

I'm in the process of starting an engine rebuild from my Caterham that I have been rebuilding/improving over the last year. Unfortunately some bad mapping has led to the demise of my old engine so its a great excuse to rebuild and upgrade. I have been working on cars as an enthusiast for around 20 years but have never ventured into a full engine build. I'm fairly confident that I will achieve a good outcome using the courses here.

The car is a Caterham Roadsport with a 1.6 16V Ford zetec se engine. Its a ex race car that has raced in the UK and Europe. I will be using it as a road legal track car. Currently the engine was running 140hp but I'm aiming for around 175-180hp with a fairly simplistic build. Should go well with the car target weight of around 450kg hopefully.

Looking forward to offering and gaining some advice here.

Hi Graeme,

Welcome to HPA, another Scottish member here.

Any questions get them fired up.

What ECU were you using in your Caterham? I have a Westfield in just now running a 4AGE Toyota engine in bike carbs and OE ECU for ignition and it's not a happy camper

Hi Chris,

Running an MBE Ecu. Not the most modern system but plenty of features to run most engines well. Problem is trying to find someone who fully understands mapping them. Already had a few issues.

MBE is a system I get asked about tuning half a dozen times a year but have never had anyone actually come in with it. If there's anything I can help with just give me a shout

Thanks Chris, will do.
