Hey Team,
Looking forward to some composites discussions and sharing some projects.
Just thoughts I'd kick things off by sharing something we're working on for the advanced composites course which should be coming out before mid next year. This advanced course will include vacuum bagging, infusion and pre-preg practical work.
Here's an infusion i'm doing at the moment for our CRX bonnet - outer skin and inner bracing.

We've also just picked up this second hand oven which we're converting to PID control for curing pre-pregs.
Hi! Just wanted to say thank you for adding this course. I just completed the composite fundamentals course and am looking forward to applying what I learned into making my own parts for my mk3 Supra. Iv’e considered buying the VIP membership for a couple years now and when I saw this course added that is what solidified the decision to do it. I look forward to the more advanced course in the future. Again thank you and I can’t wait to dive into attempting to make some of my own parts.
Awesome to hear that Todd.
We should have the advanced course out before the middle of the year.
MK3 supra sounds cool - 7M or JZ? - Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
Thanks Connor! I’m running the 7mgte in my mk3, although I also have a mk4 that I’m currently rebuilding a 2jz na-t for. The free engine rebuilding course was what initially led me to HP Academy a few years ago. I’m excited to go through more of the various course now. I’m waiting on supplies that I’ve ordered but can’t wait to try and start making some carbon fiber parts. I’ll be sure to share how it goes.
Completed my first carbon fiber parts for my mk3 Supra. They are the door jamb trims. Not perfect by any means but I’m happy I was able to actually make a usable part on the first attempt. Looking forward to the future courses and refining the process.
Awesome work! Must feel good to get those results on your first attempt.
Did you pull a mould off the originals?
Are they wetlaid? vacuum bag?
Thank you Connor! I am pretty happy with the results for the first attempt. Learned a lot along the way and hope to improve on. I did pull a mould off of an original part. I ended up using the original as a plug as well to press into the mould to help keep the laminate to shape. It worked ok but still ended up with a fair amount of pinhole that I had to touch up. In hind sight I probably should have started with a flatter part instead of one with so many sharp edges and details, but still happy. I am looking forward to the future more advanced courses. I’m planning on attempting vacuum bagging my next part experiment. Here is a pic of what my mold looked like. After the wet layup I clamped the plug together with the mould.
