Would you guys be happy with the spring loaded clamps OEMs use, or do you go to worm drive ones? One would assume the manufacturers test this stuff extensively, but they'd also be more inclined to keep an eye on costs than us performance seeking enthusiasts.

Depends on the application, where it's being use and what the car is used for.

The spring style car work well, but the worm gear hose clamps are going to be more secure, so i'd typically tend this way.

I've seen more of the worm gear type hose clamps fail than the spring type. This is usually an installation error where the person installing the clamp tightens them beyond the required amount and forces the worm gear to ride up on the band. This damages the cover that holds the worm gear into place, opening its base out so that when the clamp comes under load, the base opens up and takes the worm gear out of contact with the teeth, opening up the clamp.

Maybe I'll get a stock of these, I didn't realise they were as easily available in larger sizes.

Thanks guys.
