Discussion and questions related to the course Motorsport Wheel Alignment Fundamentals
I'm currently designing a car, it's mainly a road car.
my main problem is that the roll center is most staple at 80mm in front and 100mm in the back
the front roll center is very high but it's very stable both vertically and horizontally in roll, heave and also bumps, lowering it increases the migration a lot. Should I aim for a lower RC and make a compromise in RC stability, or is 80mm on a road car acceptable?
Keep in mind that the track width in the front is 1938mm which is much wider than most cars (usually around 1600mm) the longer track width reduces the angle of the line between contact batch and the RC which decreases jacking forces, not enough though compared to most sports cars that run 20mm front RC or 0mm (ground level) in some cases.
