Hello from Chicago.

I just started taking the Can Bus course and thought you might find this interesting.

Toyotas and Lexus SUVs and trucks are the new target for auto theft.

1. Physical Entry: Thieves access the CAN Bus wiring by pulling back bumper trim or peeling back fender liners.

2. The "Headlight Hack": On many modern Toyotas, the smart headlight assemblies are connected directly to the CAN Bus. Thieves can unplug the headlight and connect a hacking device to the exposed wiring.

3.Malicious Injection: Using a tool often disguised as a common electronic (like a Bluetooth speaker), they inject fake signals into the car’s system. This "tricks" the vehicle into believing a legitimate key is present, which unlocks the doors and disables the engine immobilizer.

I never imagined this but here we are.

On a lighter note, I'm really enjoying the class and have no intentions in a career change to Auto Theft.
