If it's not really about tuning or wiring. Then it belongs in here.
Andre, interested in your comments about the AVO turbo kit and how you changed to an EFR turbo. Could you give an insight into
how you carried out the conversion?
The EFR was a literal bolt on swap for the AVO turbo as it shares the same T25 flange. I had to make a new exhaust outlet, modify the intake to mate up, and make a new compressor outlet pipe to suit. This does get very tight around the radiator to as the BW comp cover is much larger than the AVO. I adapted the AVO oil scavenge system to work on the BW.
The biggest headache was the IWG installation as the correct angle to actuate the wastegate flap would have had the wastegate actuator about 20 mm above the ground. I had to actuate the wastegate on a slight angle to tuck the actuator up out of the way but it hasn't given me any trouble.
The BW turbo on 7 psi actually made very similar power to the AVO tbh. I think we picked up about 10 kW and had identical boost response. This really makes the AVO turbo look pretty good for a chinese product. The BW comes into its own at higher boost though and I can comfortably make 190-200 kW atw on pump gas and 9.5 psi.
I also took the opportunity to add slip joints to the manifold as we kept having the flanges warp/leak. Since doing this the manifold has given no trouble. Oh and I also built a rose jointed support bar to support the weight of the turbo.
Hope that helps.
Thanks very much Andre, interesting to discover how you did it and the results.
