Hello All,

I've attached a photo of my intake manifold which sits directly above the tubular exhaust manifold. If you care to look closely, the IAT sensor is fitted between cylinders 2 & 3. I've often though that this may be a poor choice of location and would be prone to heat soak.

The manifold will soon be removed to have a little modification done, and while it's off I thought I may reach out to the HP Academy forum users and ask if they could suggest a more suitable location for the IAT sensor, it's a naturally aspirated engine if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Richard.

I think that's a pretty good location. Are you experiencing incorrect air temp readings now if you stop while the engine is hot? What is the measured air temp, ambient air temp, and the manifold surface temperature?

If you think the sensor is transferring more heat than the air based on the thread contact with the manifold, you could try perhaps using a plastic insulator, by welding a larger bung on the manifold, and making a reducing bushing out of a good insulating plastic.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
