I may be missing something, but I do not see much by way of privacy settings - the ONLY information I wish to be available to those perusing the forums is my user name, but that does not seem to be an option without butchering other details?

This is true. This is a publicly visible forum, you have to be a member to post. This forum will display your First name, Last name and your country. As well as your previous posts.

There are a couple reasons for this. One of our goals as a company is to share information, this means when someone posts a question on this forum and we/someone answers it - everyone who has a similar problem gets to benefit from the discussion. Secondly we want this forum to be a open and honest place, where people act like they would face to face, which is why we encourage you post as yourself rather than an anonymous username.

We weighed up the pros and cons and have decided that this is the best way to proceed. Hope that helps clear things up.

OK, host's rules :-D

No prob's with host having ALL my details, no prob's with nome-de-plume, definitely no prob's with post history - just not comfortable with the other stuff.

Heck, I don't even use social media - why I won't be registering for the electrical wiring seminar, although it is something of interest as there is almost always something to learn or be reminded of.

:) Here is a link to signup for the free wiring webinar. https://www.hpacademy.com/introduction-to-wiring/ That page isn't finished yet, so ignore any engine building text.

Excellent, thank you :-)

Done - txt reminder is a nice touch.

Would it be possible to make the real name visible only to signed-in members?

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
