Recently I have a question. Generally, 225/45R15 tires are recommended to be installed on 15x8.5j wheels. If I put 225/45R15 in 9.5j wheels, will it have any impact on the handling? Why would anyone even use 10j wheels? What's the pro and con? Will the wider wheel gives better grip ?

Road and Track magazine did a test many years ago, using modular wheels. They found that at the time, there was increased grip and responsiveness with the widest rim for a given tire size. I think the increase in shoulder stiffness is what led to that. Not sure it's a relevant with today's tire construction / compounds, but certainly the responsiveness of the tire will be improved.

I say go for it. There will only be three results -- Better, Worse or the Same -- figure out which it is...

I just did a little googling, and here is a recent video that purports to answer this very question:

Thanks David for the nice information that u shared. Someone comment below the video mentioned that the wider wheel is only suitable for the soft tyre side wall. I'm race with Hankook stiff side wall RS4, as u said, i have to make test for it. Wish me luck😁👍🏽
