Hi all, in the last few months I have been deep down the rabbit hole of CAD and 3d printing, both functional and prototypes for CNC manufacturing and am thoroughly enjoying it. The time has come to purchase my first 3d scanner for hobby and some business use.
The shining 3D Einstar looks great, and the Einstar Vega looks like a further advancement of it, especially with smaller objects. Wireless looks much more convenient too. Does anyone have experience with the Vega in relation to the base Einstar? Or any other scanners you'd recommend around 4000nzd
Thanks in advance
No experience with the Vega but if it's as good as the base einstar with the added functionality it should be great for the price.
I just worry that the amount of wires and power needed to run the einstar, a wireless version might not provide a smooth scanning experience. Something you can never really know from the specs advertised. Hoping to try a Vega soon though!
I found the Creality Otter worked fairly well so I think the raptor is probably worth looking at in this price point.
The difference is Shining 3D also produces professional equipment with freescan and einscan so I think you get some trickle down into the einstar, as well as the software.
Creality scanners are only at the hobbiest level and I think this difference is evident.
Thanks for your input, Shining 3D is looking like the standout brand at the higher end of hobby grade scanners. I will do some more research. At least if I purchase the base Einstar I can budget for an even more powerful laptop though
Ended up buying the base Einstar and upgrading my laptop, just want to say this scanner is a fantastic tool, works better than expected for the price range and is dimensionally accurate enough for my usage, software is great also. Highly recommend it to anyone else starting out with scanning.
