I've seen a few posts asking about free wiring diagram tools and I've ended up starting one. I tried rapid harness myself and liked it but the free version is limited.

I'm a complete and utter novice in Python so it's neither clever nor pretty but I believe it has the potential to be more useful than a spreadsheet. The user adds connectors to harness which adds a connection table into the middle of the screen. The connections are then made one by one between connectors, and when you're ready it will output an XML file. The XML file can be opened by the excellent diagrams.net tool, where each connector will be a box and it's joined to every other connector via a wire.

As of now it just lines them up in a long row and you've got to drag the boxes around but the wires stay stuck from/to the right boxes as you drag them around.

If anyone is interested in contributing I'll post it on GitHub and you can have at it.

Reminds me of OmniGraffle - which I sorely miss as far as a very quick, simple, and flexible 'idea jotter' - but alas, I can't hang with most Apple products any more. I think you're off to a good start, were I a software engineer I'd give a hand other than encouragement.
