Trying to think a bit laterally here on a way to effectively adjust the injection timing on an Evo X.
The Tephra ROMs sadly don't have an option to change the injection timing angle.
Each time I bury the throttle I get a ton of black smoke at the back of the car and horrific fuel economy- suggesting to me the injectors are firing too early and sending fuel straight out of the cylinder into the exhaust.
Given this parameter can't be adjusted would it be possible to effect a similar change through tweaking the injector settings (effectively making them a little slower to respond) and/ or through advancing the exhaust MIVEC cam?
The car is running ID1050x, MHI 18K and is built.
Option 2 is go to a standalone, but that's going to be the thick end of £4k....
Injection timing isn't the cause of the black smoke. An excessively rich mixture is. Turbocharged cars often need to run a very rich mixture to control combustion temperatures -- and thus they will produce black smoke and poor fuel economy when run in that condition.
What are your Lambda values at WOT? Or is it just black smoke on transition to WOT?
