So I got a new computer with windows 11, I cant find a serial to usb adapter that works with windows 11. What do I do?

Do you have one at present, or are you looking for a WIN11 compatable one to buy?

If the former post the make, model and, if you know it, version - there seem to be some work-a-rounds for some which can be found with a google, or Youtube, search. If the latter, make a note of the adaptors you're looking at and check their site(s) for drivers. I don't know the brand, so can't make any recommendation, but this one claims to support WIN11 - https://www.amazon.com/Tera-Grand-Premium-Serial-Adapter/dp/B0762BSKGC?th=1 and I expect there are several more.

I was going to check the details on mine but it seems I put it somewhere "safe" and can't find it. But then I was also using WIN10, which I'm also disgusted with because it no longer reads FAT12 files, as used with floppies - identified the USB drive, and if the disc is locked/unlocked, but otherwise it's like it never existed.

Found it - it's a UNITEK Y-105/BF-810Y (the latter a label of the former) which doesn't seem to have official WIN11 (or 10) drivers, but there are several guides on how to use it on that OS. Come to think on it, it was used with XP and WIN7 lappies.

There is a later model of the adaptor with a different chipset - Y-108 - that has official WIN11 support. https://www.unitek-products.com/pages/drivers-adapters

thanks so much for the help, I bought a few off amazon and they all say they work but you go to downloads the drivers and they don't support win11.

Thank you very much!

If you already have them, check what the chipset they use is, there are guides for using some "unsupported" adaptors on WIN11 - can't recall exactly, but think they were something like 6303 chips?

Post what you have and we might be able to work it out.

Oh man, I have ptsd from getting a k-line serial to usb adapter to work so I could tune my dirt bike recently. Had to dual boot a 32 bit version of Windows for the program to work for starters then I couldn't get any drivers to work with the cable, ended up opening the thing up and after I got the chip details finally got the correct driver, took days of trying to get to that point
