End Of The Road For HP Tuners MVPI? - Featured Image

If you're still running the original HP Tuners MPVI1 or MPVI1 Pro, there is an important date on the calendar: January 1, 2027. That is when HP Tuners will officially end support for both devices, closing out more than two decades of service from one of the most widely used tuning interfaces in the industry.

Here is a clear breakdown of what that means in practice, what is not changing, and what your options are if you decide to upgrade.

What Does End of Life Actually Mean for MPVI1?

The short version: your MPVI1 will NOT be disabled or rendered unusable on January 1, 2027. Any vehicles you have already licensed will remain fully accessible, and credits you have purchased will not expire.

What does change is this. After December 31, 2026, HP Tuners will no longer provide:

  • New software updates for MPVI1
  • New features or vehicle support
  • Technical support from HP Tuners

This means that MPVI1 devices will also stop working with any future VCM Suite updates released after that point. If you choose to keep using your MPVI1, you will need to stay on a compatible version of VCM Suite to maintain functionality with your already-licensed vehicles.

This change applies only to the original MPVI1 and MPVI1 Pro. The MPVI2, MPVI3, and MPVI4 are not affected.

What About Existing Credits and Licenses?

Nothing is being taken away. Existing vehicle licenses remain valid and usable, including unlimited licenses. If you have credits on your MPVI1 device, those credits do not expire, though you will need to remain on a compatible version of VCM Suite to use them after support ends.

Sales of MPVI1-specific credits will end after December 31, 2026, so if you intend to continue using the device beyond that point, any credits you need should be purchased before that date.

Should You Upgrade to MPVI4?

You are not required to upgrade, but there are some benefits, and you can find a full comparison between the MPVI and new MPVI4 here. If your MPVI1 is working for your current needs and you are happy to stay on a compatible version of VCM Suite, there is no obligation to move.

However, if you do want to upgrade, HP Tuners offers a send-in upgrade service that transfers all existing credits and vehicle licenses from your MPVI1 to a new MPVI4. Brand-specific credits from the MPVI1 era will automatically convert to universal credits on the new device. Unlimited licenses transfer in full. No licenses or credits will be lost in the process.

There is one firm deadline to be aware of: MPVI1 devices will not be accepted for upgrade after January 1, 2027. If you want to take advantage of the upgrade program, it must be completed before that date.

You can find the MPVI4 Interface Upgrade service and full details on the process here. For any questions about your specific device or credits, HP Tuners recommends opening a support ticket directly with their team.

So, Is This The End Of The MPVI?

Despite the fact your MPVI will continue to work, in our opinion, not being able to purchase any new credits for your old MPVI unit is what will finish off its usefulness before any lack of technical updates or support does. All good things must come to an end, and the MPVI and MPVI Pro will long be remembered as (mostly) solid tuning interface tools that helped turn HP Tuners into the juggernaut it is today within the commercial reflash tuning software world.
