CAN Bus Communications Decoded: Step One: What are you looking for?
Step One: What are you looking for?
|00:00||- In this worked example we are going to reverse engineer the output of our Ecumaster 8 button CAN keypad here.|
|00:08||Now the reason we want to do this is we're going to be interfacing this keypad with a non Ecumaster ECU and I want the output of the start/stop button that's going to go to our ECU and be used for starting and stopping the engine.|
|00:25||Now this is where a little bit of internet sleuthing comes in handy as a bit of a Google search has informed me that the OEM manufacturer of these keypads is actually Blink Marine and that's let me find some good factory documentation on this unit.|
|00:40||We still want to go through this reverse engineering process though just to make sure that the data is coming out and it's set up like we expect it to be to ensure things are nice and seamless when it gets into the vehicle.|
|00:53||So the first part of our process is defining the data that we want to find.|
