Engine Building Fundamentals: Engine Stand
- When you're cleaning, prepping and assembling an engine block, it's essential to be able to quickly and easily access all parts of the block.
An engine stand is a simple and cost-effective fixture that I'd consider an essential for anyone building engines.
The engine block is bolted to a fixture and then this locates in the engine stand.
This puts the engine block at a suitable height to make it easy to work on and the fixture can also be rotated in the engine stand to allow access to the top and the bottom of the block in seconds.
Engine stands are rated to specific weight limits, so you need to make sure that you're purchasing a stand that's suitable for whatever engines you're intending to build.
I'd also recommend looking for a stand that includes a drip tray, as this helps keep the engine room clean during disassembly.
