Before we move on to the next step of the process, for the sake of completeness, we'll have a look at some of the same adjustments for our configuration and table settings as we've just looked at on the laptop software, only this time on the little touchscreen.

Obviously, with the touchscreen we don't have as much control, that should go without saying, and I will also mention that you can get yourself into a situation where the touchscreen is really programmed in that simple mode that we looked at on the laptop software where we have idle, cruise and wide open throttle.

So, if you've gone to the 2D table option in the laptop software, then that's not going to be compatible with the tuning changes that you can make on the LCD screen and it will just come up with not available.

OK let's move over to our little head unit here and we're on our home screen at the moment and we want to click of course on tuning and then on basic.

Let's start with our basic fuel and we've got the option here of our target air fuel ratio, our acceleration enrichment which we're not going to touch on and our fuel prime which we also won't touch on.

So, let's click on our target air fuel ratio and here we've got essentially the same settings we saw on the laptop software, our idle target, our cruise target and then our wide open throttle.

We've also got the option here to adjust our air fuel ratio target as the engine comes into boost, obviously if you are running power adders here and in this case we're not so we'll cancel out of that.

So, if we do want to make a change here, let's say we want to change our target idle air fuel ratio and we want to change that down to 13.8, maybe 14.2, we can move that around pretty quickly and easily and we'll click save once we've made a change.

So, very simple, we obviously don't have a large 3D table but for a simple engine, this actually is not a bad way of making our target adjustments.

We'll click back here and I'll just remind you here that the closed loop and the learning systems are all based off these target air fuel ratio values so we need to make sure that they're realistic for what we actually want to be running.

Let's click back here and we'll come into our spark and again just our same simple parameters, our spark at idle, cruise and at wide open throttle and again for boosted applications we have our boost retard in terms of degrees per psi of boost and we've got the parameter we already looked at on the laptop software for cranking ignition timing.

Changes are made exactly the same as what you've just seen so I won't dive into that.

Let's have a quick look at our basic idle, very simple there, only the one adjustment for our target idle speed and we're going to leave that where it is and then our closed loop learn.

So, we can look at our closed loop parameters, our closed loop is enabled, we can see our minimum temperature is enabled as well, coolant temp and that coolant temp is 160°F.

This is important particularly during our initial start up which we're going to see in a couple of steps time because the closed loop trims won't start activating until the engine is up to operating temperature.

So, what this can mean is that if the engine does happen to be too rich or too lean during our initial start up, we're going to probably have to keep the engine alive or keep it running using our foot on the throttle until we actually build some temperature up into the system and the closed loop kicks into life.

Alternatively we could bring our coolant temp down or we could disable our minimum coolant temp altogether, meaning that we're going to be running closed loop the whole time.

Pros and cons with each option there, we obviously find that the target air refuel ratio when the engine is cold needs to be a little bit richer, the engine might not run perfectly straight away and we also need some time for the oxygen sensor or lambda sensor to come online.

So, these really become personal preferences but perhaps for our initial start up we may actually choose to disable that minimum coolant temp sensor setting.
