00:00 Tuning isn't particularly power hungry and doesn't require the most powerful or fastest laptop on the market.
00:07 A good middle of the road laptop should do the trick, and since they get a pretty hard life tuning I find they only tend to last a year or two anyway, so there isn't much point spending heaps on the latest and greatest.
00:20 Things to look out for include a high screen resolution of 1080p, if possible.
00:26 This is helpful as it gives you more screen real estate to display parameters on.
00:31 You also want to make sure that you have a minimum of two USB ports, as these are the main way we'll interface with an ECU.
00:39 Ethernet is another popular communication method so you'll want either an ethernet port or a USB to ethernet adapter.
00:48 Hard drive space isn't a huge concern because tuning software and the files you'll produce are usually quite small.
00:56 You'll probably find yourself using the laptop for other tasks though, so I'd look for a minimum of 120 gigabytes of storage, and preferably a 250 gigabyte hard drive.
01:07 Some newer laptops are now coming out with solid state drives, which are actually quite handy for tuning since there's less risk of the hard drive failing due to vibration or shock.
01:18 If these are inside your budget I would recommend one.
01:23 Road tuning can sometimes be quite time consuming and this can take a hit on the life of your laptop battery.
01:30 The longer your laptop will last on battery power the better.
01:34 I'd consider three to four hours a bare minimum.
01:38 While shopping for a laptop try to also get an AC power adapter that can power your laptop from the cigarette lighter port in your car.
01:47 There's nothing worse than running out of battery power just prior to finishing up your tune.

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
