Hi,
I have a problem with Turbosmart Electronic straight gate 40. I found it very hard to tune, almost impossible.
It is connected via Turbosmart black box controller, the ECU is Link G4x Xtremex.
The problem:
When we tune WG DC to follow boost target (260kPa) it is highly dependant where (in terms of RPM) we WOT. If we get desired boost when WOT started at circa 3000 RPM (off boost) than the car is laggy on gear shift (as duty cycle on those rpm makes gate a little bit open). If we make the gate closed, the boost is overshooting the target.
We tried to make the WG DC table with MAP vs RPM axis, solved the gear shift problem but too slow to have good WG control.
Open loop ATM, closed loop makes things even worse (boost fluctuating) as it is impossible to tune PID to have good stable boost curve in all scenarios.
Do you have any idea of WG DC trim table to have turbo inertia dialed in? ATM we have only Gear trim table to have same boost on 1st to 6th gear.
Maybe add trim table with MAP axis, if the boost is a lot below target to force the gate closed? But I still think that is too slow to get proper response on gear shift.
I don't have any more ideas.
If you could help, it will be greatly appreciated. This is the first car I tuned by myself without any supervision, still on learning path :)
Thanks!
I wish I had some real answers other than I've spoken to at least one straight e-gate owner who ended up having to send one of their earlier units back. Disappointing since it seems a very cool piece of tech. Hopefully some ideas can get thrown around here.
